  • FULL HOME RENOVATION IN PORTSMOUTH, NEW HAMPSHIRE

If there’s one word to define this project, it’s trust—and this full-home renovation is proof of the stunning outcomes when you trust the experts and the process.

The tasteful clients lived in San Francisco and were relocating to Portsmouth, NH, where they planned to downsize but upgrade in quality. They only viewed the home once, then worked with our team virtually to complete the project. With the client placing significant trust in us, this distance didn’t slow us down or impede our process—in fact, we executed on time and on budget.

While the townhouse offered stunning views near coveted downtown Portsmouth, it was dark and outdated. Simply put, it needed a top-to-bottom facelift! We transformed the home to create a light, open aesthetic with hints of nautical charm.

Starting with the kitchen renovation, we opened the galley kitchen to maximize space, flow, and views. We even designed a custom vertical island with table-like seating, offering more room for entertaining. When it came to the overall interior design approach, we leaned into the New Hampshire Seacoast aesthetic with white and navy cabinetry alongside natural wood finishes, plus touches such as rattan, polished nickel, and woven details.

The kitchen flows seamlessly into the living/dining area, where a dining table and sitting area create an open concept so that family and friends can relax and enjoy one another’s company in one space. We stained the floors a medium brown oak and painted the walls and trim a warm white to carry the clean, bright feeling through every room. Details like the custom built-in shelves inside the foot of the stairs offer additional nooks for storage.

Bathrooms are often a great opportunity to incorporate intriguing textures and features. We renovated the half bath to create an organic dimensional pop of color and a modern seaside feel. Upstairs, the primary suite bathroom kept its traditional, timeless aesthetic with elements of marble and custom vanity details to accommodate the homeowners’ needs.

By merging the warm, natural tones reminiscent of their West Coast environment with those of classic coastal New England, we created an updated aesthetic and a cohesive feel throughout the home. When the clients saw their renovated home upon completion, it was only the second time they’d seen it—and they were thrilled to find it was everything they’d hoped for and more.
