LEAD INTERIOR DESIGNER
Seacoast New Hampshire | Full-Time | In-Person

We are seeking an experienced Lead Designer to join our growing team. This is a senior, hands-on design leadership role for a designer who brings both strong aesthetic judgment and technical fluency to their work.
This is not an entry-level position, and it is not a role for someone looking to learn design fundamentals. We are looking for a proven professional with real-world residential design experience who can confidently lead design vision, curate elevated interiors, and translate concepts into construction-ready documentation.
Position Overview
The Lead Designer will work closely with the Creative Director, Director of Operations and Pre-Construction Coordinator throughout the design process to develop, refine, and protect the design vision for each project. This role requires exceptional communication, confidence in material and finish curation, and the technical skill to own a drawing set while translating a cohesive aesthetic into fully resolved construction drawings.
This position balances creative ownership and execution. You will be responsible for shaping the overall look and feel of a home—while ensuring the design is technically sound, buildable, and aligned with Otter Creek Homes’ standards.
Responsibilities
Design Vision & Curation
Lead the creative development of residential interiors from concept through execution
Establish overall design direction, including spatial flow, material palettes, finish selections, and detailing
Create elevated, cohesive aesthetic curation boards and client-facing presentations that clearly communicate design intent
Curate materials, fixtures, finishes, and details with a strong point of view, balancing beauty, function, and longevity
Uphold and protect Otter Creek Homes’ brand aesthetic, design standards, and level of refinement across all projects
Technical Design & Documentation
Translate approved design concepts into detailed interior floor plans, elevations, and renderings
Produce comprehensive construction drawings using Chief Architect or equivalent software
Own the drawing set from schematic design through construction documentation
Maintain accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all technical documents
Collaboration & Leadership
Present design concepts, drawings, and decisions confidently to clients
Collaborate directly with the Creative Director and Director of Operations on design direction and execution
Work closely with our in-house construction team to ensure design intent is executed to OCH standards
Serve as a design authority within the project team, providing clarity and direction throughout the process
Styling & Portfolio
Lead on-site styling and visual direction for project photography
Coordinate with photographers and vendors to ensure each project is captured with intention, restraint, and editorial clarity
Establish overall design direction, including spatial flow, material palettes, finish selections, and detailing
Create elevated, cohesive aesthetic curation boards and client-facing presentations that clearly communicate design intent
Curate materials, fixtures, finishes, and details with a strong point of view, balancing beauty, function, and longevity

Required Qualifications
4+ years of professional experience working at a residential interior design firm (mandatory)
Advanced proficiency in Chief Architect or equivalent design software, with the ability to produce construction drawings and renderings
Strong visual literacy and refined design sensibility
Deep understanding of residential construction, detailing, and spatial planning
Comfort working with numbers, dimensions, and measurements
Confidence leading client meetings and presenting design work
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work full-time, in person, at our North Hampton, NH office

Entry-level designers
Recent graduates seeking training or mentorship
Candidates without professional, real-world design firm experience
Designers uncomfortable with technical drawings, measurements, or client presentations
No experience need not apply.

SKILLED CARPENTER
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter to join our team and play a pivotal role in the execution of our residential projects. As a Carpenter, you will oversee and guide the construction and remodeling efforts, ensuring that every aspect of the project aligns with our high standards of craftsmanship and design. You will work closely with our project managers and construction team to bring our clients' visions to life, while upholding our company's values of setting the new standard.
We’re looking for someone with 5+ years experience in the field doing carpentry work. We hope this person is a hard working individual who enjoys working in a fast paced environment with a focus on problem solving, This person is driven and consistently working on growing their skills.
The right candidate will have strong trim carpentry skills as well as framing or cabinetry/millwork experience. Daily work will include a blend of interior and exterior trim carpentry, light framing, cabinetry and millwork installation, and a mix of general jobsite labor associated with working for a general contractor.
Additionally, the right candidate should be comfortable working with Google Suite products and using an iPad to view plans on the job.
