CRANFIELD ST

  • FULL-HOME RENOVATION ON CRANFIELD ST, NEW CASTLE, NH

Our Cranfield Street renovation is a thoughtful example of how a legacy home can be fully reimagined while honoring its history. This project encompassed a top-to-bottom renovation, including a complete kitchen transformation, first-floor powder bath, updated lighting throughout, full interior painting, sanding and refinishing of existing hardwood floors, a reconfigured second-floor primary suite, two additional bathrooms, a redesigned laundry room, and a third-floor workout space.

This home had deep personal meaning for our client — it was the house she grew up in and one passed down from her mother. From the outset, the goal was clear: preserve the soul of the home while breathing new life into it through intentional design, craftsmanship, and modern functionality.

In the kitchen, we reworked the layout to better suit the way our clients live today while introducing a sense of balance and symmetry that the original space lacked. The range was centered and flanked by double windows to create a strong focal point, while the sink was relocated to the island to take advantage of views toward newly added French doors leading to the back patio. A two-sided island stretching over 12 feet anchors the space, offering generous seating and prep space, while a full appliance garage wall conceals a fridge, pantry and coffee and wine bar behind custom cabinetry.

Materiality played a central role in creating warmth and authenticity. Creamy, coffee-toned cabinetry pairs beautifully with a natural oak island, zellige-tiled hood, and quartzite countertops. Antique brass and bronze finishes, linen pendants, and woven textures ground the space and reinforce the home’s lived-in, organic aesthetic. A retained soapstone sink serves as a subtle nod to the home’s original character.

Throughout the home, we refreshed the interior with a warm white paint palette to brighten formerly yellowed walls and refinished the red oak floors in a lighter stain to soften their naturally warm undertones and unify the space from floor to floor.

On the second floor, the primary suite underwent a significant reconfiguration to accommodate a freestanding tub — a non-negotiable for our clients. We achieved this by thoughtfully expanding into the existing laundry room and relocating it elsewhere in the home. The resulting primary bath is a serene wet room featuring zellige tile, limestone flooring, plaster walls, a custom Otter Creek Homes oak vanity, and antique brass fixtures — continuing the home’s organic, timeless language.

An existing bedroom was transformed into a new laundry room, outfitted with custom OCH-built cabinetry and warm finishes to create a space that feels both functional and elevated.

The remaining bathrooms were refreshed to align with the updated aesthetic, while styling and furnishings were layered throughout the primary bedroom, living room, sitting room, and dining room to reinforce the overall design intent and elevate the home as a cohesive whole.

This renovation is a reflection of what we do best — guiding clients through complex, large-scale renovations with care, creativity, and craftsmanship. The result is a home that feels deeply personal, quietly luxurious, and ready for the next generation to enjoy.
