HIGH ST

  • FULL-HOME RENOVATION HIGH STREET - STRATHAM, NEW HAMPSHIRE

Our High Street project was a comprehensive, top-to-bottom home renovation designed to support a meaningful life transition: welcoming multiple generations under one roof while preserving warmth, character, and a sense of ease throughout the home.

Our client was preparing to move her parents into the residence and wanted the first floor reconfigured to include a fully functional secondary primary suite. To accomplish this, we thoughtfully reallocated square footage from an oversized laundry/powder room and an underutilized sitting room, creating a private, comfortable suite that seamlessly integrates into the existing home.

Throughout the renovation, we refreshed the home at every level. Existing hardwood floors were removed and replaced with new white oak flooring, all interior doors and trim were replaced, and the stair system was refinished in a contrasting colorway to add architectural interest. A cohesive paint palette was applied throughout the home to unify the spaces and allow the material selections to take center stage.

In the kitchen, we reimagined both the layout and flow. By removing a doorway and a portion of the original dining space, opening the wall to the living room, and adding a new slider to the updated dining area, we were able to significantly expand the kitchen footprint. The new layout allowed us to center the range, introduce an elongated 8-foot island, add a dedicated pantry, and reposition the sink beneath the windows for improved light and functionality.

The kitchen’s aesthetic was rooted in a warm, antique, storied sensibility. Granite countertops were selected to evoke the depth and character of soapstone, while a plaster range hood and plaster backsplash introduce softness and movement. Warm white shaker-style cabinetry is paired with a medium-brown island and built-up countertop edge to signal durability and heartiness. Antique bronze and brass finishes complete the space, reinforcing its timeless appeal.

The powder bath was designed as a moment of charm and character, featuring a deeper oak vanity, dark quartz countertop, and a vertical V-groove accent wall that adds texture without overpowering the small footprint.

In the living and dining areas, we grounded the spaces in a warm white paint palette and layered in character through thoughtful styling. Our client entrusted us with styling the entire home, incorporating her existing vintage pieces alongside new furnishings, textiles, and accessories. The result is a home that feels deeply personal, collected, and complete — move-in ready from day one.

One of our favorite spaces is the library, which was fully color-drenched in a moody Farrow & Ball hue. Custom upholstery, vintage accents, and layered lighting create an intimate, cocoon-like room designed for reading, retreat, and quiet moments.

The secondary primary bathroom balances brightness with character, featuring lighter marble tile, a pop of color at the vanity, and antique brass and gunmetal fixtures that maintain the home’s vintage-inspired language.

For the home office, our client wanted a space that felt grounded and inviting for remote work. We replaced the flooring with carpet for comfort, introduced a warm beige wall color, and styled the room around a solid oak desk to create a space that supports both productivity and calm.

The client’s primary suite was designed as a true retreat. We reconfigured the layout to allow direct bathroom access from the bedroom and created a longer, more functional custom closet. The ensuite bath reflects the home’s lived-in luxury, featuring tumbled marble tile, a white oak vanity, quartz countertops, zellige tile, antique brass fixtures, and a freestanding soaking tub. The bedroom itself was fully styled with layered linens and furnishings, completing the turnkey experience our client desired.

This project exemplifies our approach to large-scale, high-touch renovations — where architectural reconfiguration, interior design, impeccable craftsmanship and styling work together seamlessly. The trust built throughout this process led to a continued relationship: just three months later, the client’s parents hired us to design and build a new garage and workshop on their property, thoughtfully tailored to complement the main home and provide ample storage and workspace.

A true testament to collaboration, care, and craftsmanship.
