NEW BUILD IN GREENLAND, NH
In the design-build business, some projects become particularly special, and our Orchard Hill new build is one of them.
After losing their family home in a horrific electrical fire, these clients wanted to recreate what they had while infusing a classic, organic aesthetic throughout the house.
This presented a unique challenge, as we knew we couldn’t completely recreate the sentimental value of their original home with all of their personal belongings. However, our team also understood that this process would be emotional. So, we strived to honor their old home while designing their new one. It was a creative dance we had to play, making this project one of our most cherished.
We worked off the client’s architectural plans that they had replicated from their original home, with a few tweaks for functionality. From the construction and building process to the interior design phase, we infused the family’s style into the new home while giving a nod to the original.
The homeowners sought a natural, lived-in aesthetic throughout, which we accomplished by using many variations of materials that felt warm and inviting. Take details like the kitchen countertop’s oak cutting board inlay, which offers seamless meal prepping and cooking. Antique brass fixtures, natural marble, and brick tiles make the home feel both timeless and fresh. Limewash paint and color-drenched rooms bring the space to life, while quaint sconce details and several reading nooks offer cozy spots for relaxing.
We thoughtfully designed this home from the inside out. Vaulted ceilings, large windows, and sliding glass doors provide a spacious feel with ample natural light—plus beautiful waterfront views. Everything from exterior sconces and siding choices to the railing detail and hardware on the vanities was custom-specified and cohesively curated. What materialized was a home brought back to life, offering the family a safe space to continue making new memories.
This project was a joy to bring to fruition, and we will forever feel honored that they felt safe to choose Otter Creek for this emotional process!
