How Much Does Your Inspo REALLY Cost?

Hi you guys!

We’re back again with another blog post! This one has been a long time coming after hundreds of consultation calls and endless DM’s from you all. The common theme that we’re seeing and that we often have to guide clients on is how their budget lines up to their inspiration!

If you’re anything like our clients (& friends) once you get the home renovation bug, there’s no stopping your Pinterest game! Before you know it you’ve created a board for every space in your home and have endless pins sharing exactly what you want. You come to the table with a healthy dose of inspiration and LOTS of time spent watching HGTV.

All this time spent scouring Pinterest inspo for your dream (kitchen, bath, new build) leaves you often times with a visual in your mind but no numbers to back that up! We’ve come to realize this creates only one thing….guessing! Guessing, google searching, watching HGTV, talking to friends… is all well and good for an initial idea but that can only take you so far.

This often times leaves clients coming to our consults with TONS of awesome inspiration but a vague (majority of the time underestimated) budget for their project. SO we thought, why not create a blog post that works IN TANDUM with your Pinterest inspiration!

We shared a few common inspiration photos that keep coming up from our clients and potential clients below and put a realistic number to each! Ok, who’s ready to see what their inspiration REALLY costs?…Let’s go…

KITCHEN INSPIRATION

A kitchen of this size and aesthetic given the minimal amount we can see in these photos is a price tag of roughly $100k! Truly any kitchen of this material finish and aesthetic is about this price range. Especially given the large windows, beams, plaster oven hood, XL Island & glass cabinets. This price includes everything necessary to create the functioning and beautiful space you see here, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.

A 4 piece bathroom (Shower, free standing tub, sinks & toilet) of this elevated material quality would run a price tag of roughly $80k! This includes everything you see in these photos including a full tiled shower with glass door enclosure, a tiled bathroom floor, full double vanity, free standing tub, toilet, all necessary carpentry work, electrical, plumbing, everything necessary to make it the functioning beautiful space you see here. A 3 piece bathroom of this quality (minus the freestanding tub) would be a price tag of roughly $60k!

Ok, now that the wind has been blown out of your sails a bit (ugh, I hate that, sorry but it had to be done) let me let you in on some details to pump you back up! There are ALWAYS options! Options in material finish and selection as well as scope of the project to reduce those costs. Not all kitchens cost roughly $100k & not all bathrooms cost roughly $80k. If you have a talented designer and builder they will work in tandem as your guides, taking your inspiration and budget and communicating with you along the process to get a material finish that’s similar to your inspiration within your specific target budget. We like to tell our clients this “At the end of the day each project is like a bag of groceries”, you can fill that bag up with all organic food or you can mix organic and frozen food, what’s inside the bag reflects the cost! Here at OCH we believe a really great project is created by our team evaluating your needs, wants and inspiration and then guiding you on what to put inside that grocery bag to hit your budget!

We hope this blog served as a realistic barometer for your inspiration and helped you along your remodeling/ new build journey!
